The Awakening

The last time that I built a bridge,
I crossed a raging river of denial
High as I was from the pure mountain air,
I fell asleep only to dream
Perched in a tree top of wisdom,
the eagle of visions called my name
He spoke so soft but so clear,
and he revealed to me the knowledge of the mountain
and the secrets of the river
I listened with a patient ear as he spoke
He told of places that I had never imagined
and I was up to the challenge
Then the eagle screamed and flew away
the mountains echoed his final cry
I knew the meaning of all I ever wondered
and when I woke, I was hungry
I feasted on mushrooms
and waited for my induced vision
All of a sudden I saw a man holding life in one hand
and death in the other
I chose life and death smiled
In one moment I gained years of age and turned into an old man,
death was beckoning me from the trees,
he would surely arrive soon
So at that moment I knew why I was here,
not to find hidden meanings,
not to know the unknown,
only to live and die without expecting anything more
that must be the key to happiness
The eagle lit the path
and I chose not to gain a fools prosperity,
but to live life and appreciate the unknown mysteries,
accepting that they are unknown for a reason

I read this work 12hrs. ago. I have pondered on it and I have now tried to write my response 3 times. Please be patient as words are difficult to find that do justice to what you have said above. Peace.
