SELF PITY

In my thoughts on this sad, sad day:
Oh,' to be a bird and just fly away.
To spread my wings and fly so high,
become a speck in a cloudless sky.
Enjoy peaceful flight in a sky so clear,
without any pain or sadness near.
To think of things as trees and nuts,
seeds and berries, and rest blessed rest.
To go my way, none hindering me,
from hill to dell, from forrest to sea.
To sing the song of nature too,
feel nature's spring and nature's dew.
Not thinking thoughts of deadly things:
of stress and pain, humanity brings.
No weight of sin to sting the soul,
to make the body gaunt and cold.
No load of responsibility, you see;
no other thing to want to be.
No other thing especially,
a sad, sad creature just like me.
Psa.130:1 "Out of the depths I cried unto thee, O' Lord."

To think of things as trees and nuts,
seeds and berries, and rest blessed rest
this was the only stanza that i read out of rhyme...was it a typo or meant? No criticisim just a question.

Yes, are we not all prone to be at time depressed and feel we cannot cope with our burdens.
But then, Jesus Himself went through it.
Was spared nothing of the human lot. Absolutely nothing - He did assume these burdens voluntariilky. Out of love.
Man needs a vulnerable Lord. I have a poem to that effect.
Thanks Lionel for this excellent wirte.
Loved it.
Love and peace
