Put It In Perspective

Contributed by angelface on Wednesday, 3rd March 2004 @ 12:09:56 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Inevitable? Are we stuck with this fate?
To live in this country that we love, that we hate?
Are we confused? Badly abused? leaving our saviors to only be used?
Our country's police men beat up our men, yet we still break the law, again and again?
It could be stupidity, due to humidity, not in our states, in our brains...
We're so conceited to think our country's so grand, so we feel it's our duty to lend out a hand,
They've been fighting forever, it's nothing brand new, leave them alone, they will make it through.
We live in a time full of violence and pain, with all of this anger, what is there to gain?
Drugs being sold right under your nose, so the cops have to bust them, that's just how it goes...
Perspective...
Put your life in perspective.
Look in my highschool, people don't get along, and somehow the geniuses just don't belong.
Perspective...
Drugged alcoholics, ODing on crank, the doctors can't save them...who are we to thank?
Sexual diseases, herpes and AIDS? He got a girl pregnant and down went her grades...
Put it in Perspective...
Girls in awe by the singers, and telephone ringers, acrilic nails, tight jeans, and perfume.
A girl just got dumped, yet a stomache just pumped, and the girl thought her life was now doomed...
So she put it in Perspective...
Cigarettes kill, you know that they will, her grandma's got cancer and no more life to fufill.
Her friend wants to die, due to frugs and depression,
Some girls have to hide due to pervert's obsession,
Animals slaughtered, a dad beats his daughter, and people still think their live's bad?
A message I'm sending, and I'm recomending, be thankful for life and be glad.
And put it in PERSPECTIVE.

Excellent flow and message. I think you might like the political poems of steeleyes. Call me shallow but I don't really delve that deep in the problems of the world. I prefer to stick to my own affairs, and you poem mixes a bit of it both. Great write.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
