Destiny

Contributed by Jazz on Wednesday, 11th September 2002 @ 07:42:22 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

She kisses her mother,
and heads to the door.
She picks up the bags,
sitting on the floor.

She takes a final look around,
then turns and faces the world.
Her footsteps on the pavement,
the most deafening sound heard.

Her mother makes a final plea,
but the young girl thinks of destiny.

He is in his car waiting,
for the one that is so naive.
He plays her for a fool,
because she is only seventeen.

He uses her for sex and cash,
and acts as if he loves her so.
But his promises to her are lies,
tied together with a pretty pink bow.

She is blinded by this love affair,
thinking this one will always be there.

Driving down the open highway,
he looks at her and grins.
He thanks her for chosing his life,
this way of living in sin.

She smiles back at him,
and holds his hand in hers.
She turns and faces the highway,
without a single word.

She is nothing but a scared little girl,
but she thinks with him, she can conquer the world.

He stops at a gas station,
and she watches him pull a gun.
Was this is his ideal life,
to be forever on the run?

She tried to face reality,
and knew she should turn away.
But she was blinded by love,
so she decided to stay.

She knew he was wrong, but could not fight.
She thought his love, would make it alright.

Ten months later,
with a baby coming soon,
they are living inside,
a grundgy hotel room.

And one cold night,
he never returned back.
She awoke to the silence,
of the room, in midnight black.

She looks around, hoping to see him there.
She let out a scream, and cried in despair.

She called her mother,
without another choice.
She cried out for her,
when she heard her voice.

She begged her mother,
to let her come home.
Her mother just hung up,
and she cradled the phone.

Asking for help, was her final plea.
Now she will find true destiny.

She walked across the bridge,
and felt the wind flush her skin.
She no longer felt the fright,
of what was about to begin.

She outstretched her arms,
and felt her windy roller coaster.
She watched the ground,
come closer and closer.

On the ground, she faced eternity.
She let death...become her destiny.

Unfortunately this type of tragedy is all to often true. People need to realize that death is not the answer. The poem however shows what many people choose. Well done, I think it gets the theme across quite nicely.

not being sarcastic, im serious.... isnt the 1st half of this poem basically "borrowed " from a country song? (Trisha Yearwood maybe? Song being "Walk away Joe?)

Hmm, first off, who is Trisha Yearwood, and second what is Walk Away Joe? Hmm, I dont listen to country, but I will ask around.
