FOREVER, LIKE ETERNITY

Forever, like eternity,
stretches far in front of me...
But forever as the wind blows free
you fill my life with ecstasy.
It's deeper than the merest touch;
A lasting passion that burns so much.
It scorches me, and melts my heart;
leaves a void when we're apart.
Like strands of silk in a spider's lair,
Strong, yet fragile, my love it snares.
I don't think I want to fly,
for I'm content when you are by.
When you leave (I know you must)
my love will be, but I return to dust.
For without you I find empty space;
and if I can't win, why even race.
