It's OK.

People come, people go
All the same in a woman’s time.
But when that person is her child
She makes a promise, hard in mind.
A mother can only know
How much her promise will mean
But a child with open heart
Can see the cost to her it’s been.
As children we have erred
Mother’s pardon made it OK
She held her lantern steady
So to show us, the right way.
She lived by the law of motherhood
To nurture with unbending love.
For all time through eternity
With the heart of a lion! Yet soft as a dove.
A anxious bride walked the aisle
Her mother’s smile, made all OK
She held her lantern steady
And softly, showed the way.
Her examples are a blessing
To a woman who watched in awe
Who has learnt the gift of giving
From a mother who gave more.
She who sent her only son to war
His mother’s kiss, made it OK.
She held her lantern steady
As back home, she showed the way.
When fear is overpowering
From unanswered questions rife
Her son will feel comfort,
From her lantern glowing forever through the night.
She laid fighting for breath
Our mother’s eyes, told us it’s OK
She held her lantern steady
And bravely, showed the way.
Will I have someone to sit by me?
On the fateful day I die?
If so will that person
Have feelings for me to cry?
Her husband need not fear
Our mother’s love tells him, it’s OK
She will hold her lantern steady
And lovingly show him the way.
Mother’s soul brightly glows
Her love will never part
She holds her lantern steady
In every grandchild’s heart.
As has been for all time
Mother has guided our path
With her precious lantern
Aloft to light the dark
We seek that light every time
Problems come our way.
Mother’s memory will light our heart
And tell us it’s OK.
