Freedom Isn’t Free
A year’s come and gone
Since that heart-wrenching day
When life as we knew it
Passed sadly away
Prayers fervently spoken
So many tears cried
Still can’t heal the heartache
For those who have died
For parentless children
And families in shreds
Lives senselessly taken
And too much blood shed
Through minds set in evil
Lives taken in vain
There are not enough tears
To wash out that kind of pain
There’s a high cost for freedom
It’s so plain to see
From those who’ve paid dearly
Our freedom’s not free

Yes, there is such a high price to pay for freedom...a wonderful, moving poem Sherry.
I'm sorry, for some daft reason I didn't realise you were still submitting poetry here...or else you know I would have been reading your work which I always love.
