vampire in the evening shadows
lounging in his easy chair
gazing at the fireflies
crickets singing in the air
i venture up to say hello
he smiles and waves for me to stay
his manner is impeccable
the cloths he wears are all the rage
i make a witty observation
he laughs aloud and claps his hands
you are divine company
he responds and i demand
how sir do you find this weather
invigorating he replies
and how sir do you find these women
delicious he laughs and gently smiles
the servants bring my favorite drink
and as i roll my cigarrette
we enjoy a silent moment
just a second to reflect
i sit back inhaling deeply
and blow the smoke into the air
he throws his feet up on the table
leaning back without a care
i secretly admire his makeup
the style in 1665
hes aware that i am staring
breaks the silence with a smile
how sir do you find this life
very lovely i replied
and what i asked is your opinion
he waved his hand and with a smile
it bores me he boldly stated
theres much ado bout nothing
anything you enjoy i asked
and he said there is something
the pleasure of good company
the beauty of the night
to hear the crickets gently sing
in these things i delight
well please dont think me rude i said
however i must retire
the morning brings a journey and
a good rest is required
the servants pulled my carriage round
he bid a fond adieu
while traveling his eyes haunted me
a burning emerald hue
his laugh still echoed in my mind
careless as the wind
as though he'd live a thousand years
i smiled once again
and imagined him within my mind
lounging in his evening chair
gazing at the fireflies
a vampire without a care
