Is there nothing I can do

Contributed by brghtnsnshny on Sunday, 29th February 2004 @ 04:30:13 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I'm only the girlfriend
I can' tell him what to do
all i can do
is be there for him
and love him
so every night I sit and pray
that every night and every day
he doesn't open that bottle and begin to drink
for in an eyes blink
something could go wrong
even if he hadn't been drinking that long.
Though he says he only drinks when he's sad
the alcohol to this feeling it will only add
I don't want him to drink it
even if it is only a little bit
But I'm only the girlfriend
there is nothing I can do
and I'm not about to tell him what he can and cannot do
yet I hope and yet I pray
that he will keep the drinks put away
