Faithful mind and soul

Contributed by Waynster on Sunday, 29th February 2004 @ 11:20:39 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

America is my country
I hold dear to my heart
I have grown to love it
Right from the start

America is my home
Where I was born
It is now a country
Many people have scorn

This is about our beliefs
that we help many a land
seems most of the hatred
comes from countries with rocks and sand

They boast of their religion
Hoot and holler in the street
Then we are evil
Because them we do defeat

If they are religious
And want to live Gods will
They shouldn’t commit crimes
That gives the world a chill

Yes I am American
I am religious too
I hold no hatred
At any point of view

America is strong
Our ground we will hold
May God bless
All that has been bold

Many of men and women
Have fought under the American flag
Even when it has been tattered and torn
And even shredded to a rag

We love our country
The same as the foreigners love theirs
We all need to come together
And stop all the tears

this is beautifully written and i love the flow, but let me say this...as much as you say this is nothing aganist any foriegners...it is to a point...we are the ones going over and trying to run other peoples countries, that havent asked for our help, forcing our way of life on them....it is us who temp poor countries with money, guns and whatever they see that will make them greedy enough to sacrafice thier people for a bit of riches and power...it is not the country it is its leaders who we throw temptation at so we can have what is theirs...that is my opinion and the poem as i said is beautiful ..and for the record i am a black woman born and raised here....slr
