Blind Wisdom

Contributed by karl_wiggins on Sunday, 29th February 2004 @ 09:26:03 AM in AEST
Topic: spiritual

Her eyes are the colour of frozen rivers
yet she moves like the grass itself,
finding her way to the sacred medicine wheel
by candles of sunlit frost.

Like mist brushing the meadow grass
she disappears as quietly as she came,
and the voices of our ancestors
set my world vibrating.

Listening to the wind playing in the trees
and watching the ritual dance of the clan mothers,
I remember a far-off time
when brother bison kept us from starving.

An ancient myth and a forgotten legend,
drums, dances, costumes and colours,
dreamtime soaring far out of reach
and a young she-wolf walking with the Great Spirit.

Her smile lights up her face
her snow-covered eyes a reservoir of divine wisdom,
a way of seeing that is not as others see.
Tiny flames twitching slightly on a windless night.

It takes a very long time to become young.
one must experience passion and regret,
power and strength, sincerity and impulse
before one stands in front of one's own medicine wheel.

Karl, my friend, it is great to see you here. I am happy you decided to come and check us out.

This poem I hold close to my heart because of my ancestory too. Yes, we do have to go through trials and tribulations to get to our own wheel. I am working hard towards mine. Someday with the help of my guide I will make it there.

Hugs, your friend,
Rita

If you read some of my stuff you will see that I'm becomming disenchanted with "Christianity". It has lost us far more than we have gained.

Whether you intended it or not (and I strongly suspect you did) this does more to recover for Man his self respect , than much iIhave written.
(see my latest)

I have a feeling (from something else of yours Rita has quoted to me,) that we have much in common and look forward to many more reads.
