I see you now, not as before,
lively, fast and free;
but calm and soft, a pleasure store,
in all a part of me.
We began our lifelong love affair
in desire and uncertainty;
and now, I breathe you as the air,
my love for eternity.
How blest in life with you I've been,
a gift from God I see;
as if, a man that never sinned,
with Him rewarding me.
The sun appears to light the world,
as you light up my eyes.
I'll follow after you anywhere,
in you my happiness lies.
I'd never choose any other life,
had I the power to name it.
After the love of you, my wife,
I'd be bereft to claim it.
