The Road Traveled
---------------------------
Lately I’ve been thinking,
About the days that passed me by.
How my life turned out,
And all the reasons why.
Roads I could have traveled,
Scenery I could have seen.
Chapters of a book,
Of living out a dream.
But I chose the road of common sense,
Chose safety over thrill.
For the greener grass on the other side,
Didn’t seem quite real.
I’ve learned that life is what you make it,
Doesn’t matter what road you're on.
You can seek the trill of the lights,
Or the quietness of the dawn.
Decisions I’ve made I don’t regret,
For this road has found me peace.
It hasn’t brought me famine,
It hasn’t brought me feast.

I have to say that this poem rings a bell. I really could feel every word you wrote. Great piece! Keep on writing them. I personally have chosen the path of daring and thrill adventure and more. Be All You Can Be!
Ring a bell?
Once again, great work.

Not always easy to know the right path but as long as you are happy with your decisions on that road then life is forfilling. Life is what you make it but life can also be with other close to you allow you to make it. Strange but sometimes true. I liked your thoughtful poem.
Take Care

Have you perchance heard of Robert Frost?...heh heh...can't resist that. Frost is one of my favourites and this poem does brings one of his to mine...a great complement to that work would your poem be. Anyway...nicely done..your poem that is. I do envy your contentment in your life...I have the same situation but somehow regret seem to dog my heel. Green grasses indeed...while they do not seem soo green at the chances of happenstance they always seem soo much greener in retrospect. Oh well... |
