A Longing Look Good-Bye

Contributed by WordPoet on Wednesday, 11th September 2002 @ 06:44:45 AM in AEST
Topic: SecretLove

Each moment away is agony, yet together I am lost,
The way ahead is clouded like a window chilled by frost.
My heart screams out to take you, gently in my arms,
To kiss you oh so softly and woo you with my charms.
Yet in your eyes I see the stranger that I am,
A beauty that’s unreachable by this ordinary man.
A red rosebud without thorns is what you are to me,
But a yellow rose for my future is all that I can see.

Each time that you come near I wonder what could be,
If you could look through my eyes when you look at me.
The longing ache that fills me and drives me to desire,
If you saw through my eyes would it set your soul on fire?
But now I wait until that day, if ever it should come,
Hoping always patiently that one day I’m the one.
The desires of my heart are written upon my soul,
As life’s emotions interact but out of my control.

As you slowly walk away a struggle cries out in me,
A soul of passion tied in knots just wanting to be free.
Should I call your name and get you to come back,
I should tell you how I feel but it’s courage that I lack.
So my face becomes a canvas, my longing is the paint,
A gentle touch of sorrow can be seen but is quite faint.
And when you walk away like an angel from the sky,
All I’ve offered to you is a longing look good-bye.
