Look into the dollhouse and tell me what you see,
For in it’s secret chambers lie the truth that would be free.
Down the hall and to the right there lies a small girl’s room,
And all around lay shadows from the evenings gentle gloom.
In the room lay all the things, with which small girls will play,
And there’s enough to keep one busy throughout each and every day.
Though toys lay scattered everywhere upon the playroom floor,
Up upon the windowsill lays something worth much more.
A doll of glass lies waiting, the last sunlight on her face,
A sparkle twinkles in her eye, full of innocence and grace.
But a tear seems frozen on her cheek and there’s emptiness inside,
So brave and kind this gentle doll that has all to often cried.
Now looking closely at her face there’s a melancholy there,
For at the world outside her window she can only sit and stare.
And Everyday that passes by there’s something else to see,
But it constantly reminds her of something she can’t be.
With longing eyes she stares away into a distant plane,
And imagines herself a healthy girl skipping rope again.
Resilient strength is her true gift with all the world to share,
The pain and grief that she endures not more than she can bear.
A doll of glass so delicate, in this house she must remain,
But love and understanding, from her is what you gain.
Simple pleasures reach deep inside and lift her spirit high,
And all the things that sadden her are let go with one deep sigh.
Footsteps falling in the hall, a smile parts her face,
And as she waits for what’s in store, she gently pats her lace.
A man in suit came round the bend and stood there straight and tall,
A giant man with a gentle face, which said no word at all.
Slowly he came cross the room and took her in his arms,
A hug so tight a kiss so soft, she melted at his charms.
As they walked away from there, she’d forgotten all the bad,
And slowly looked into his face and said, ”I love you dad.”
