Sick Day

I twisted myself round, groaned up aloud
For I felt like as if a crowd
Had trampled me while ill in bed.
I lunged up, only to collapse once more
Only to fall back again:
Feeling dog tired with black darkness sore,
Definitely something, I felt, worse than pain
I opened the medicine cabinet;
There was a stupor binding my eyes
That my art here fails to describe…
Save for all the bottles,
Each one marked with labels and caps
Of all sizes and colours-with pills
Forming a primary coloured rainbow-
An insidious cocktail supposed for all dolour….
A sickness in my head…terrible moments,
With a soreness in my limbs, my mind-throat rent
Apart by scratchiness…
For I felt lime a snowman melting in summer…
A visit to the doctor’s:
Again the same shibboleth-
Take these 3 times a day once per every meal
Accompanied with yet more and more pills-
I guess I’m no better than a drug addict, these days
Popping more and yet more pills
And without them agued again by recurring ills…
When eyes are glued shut, and noses red
‘tis an extremely bad time fared.

Just great stuff... I can relate to it, especially on cold days in winter or Mondays in general...
