An epic struggle now I find;
this effort to gain peace of mind.
I see no pause, no time of rest,
running the gauntlet of this quest.
Why destroy yourself my son, dear son,
your adult life has just begun.
The resistance of your stubborn will,
strong threatens my resolve to kill.
Trouble, like sparks, fly from your hands,
as the cycle of disappointment expands.
Our war of stress filled complexity,
seizes my heart with dreading perplexity.
With a mind tuned to vice and danger,
you burden my soul with agony and anger.
In strife and estrangement we contend,
through harm and help to find an end,
to this turmoil your drug use is giving,
making our lives hardly worth living.
Oh' God, I pray, please help me win,
the heart of my son to sanity again.
