Prayer of a Reluctant Servant

Contributed by faith_my_eyes on Friday, 27th February 2004 @ 02:35:49 AM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

I
Lord I some times am reluctant
To step onto the pathway
To take heed to Your call.
I agonize over every step I take
In fear of doing wrong
Though the road bends and winds
You are always faithful
As You grasp my hand in Yours
And lead me down the way.

II
Lord I ask why and You say, “Go!”
Lord I cry out to You in prayer
But You already know
My prayer, my thoughts, my heart and fears
My every struggle, impulse and move
You know always know just what I need before I even know
You formed and fashioned this sinner
Into flesh and bones, mind and spirit
You knew me before and You know me now
Though I don’t understand
Though I am unsure
In Your Sovereignty You knew
And prepared it all for me
Before I even took heed to Your call.

III
Lord help this reluctant servant
To follow each arrow you point
To only take a step if I feel You leading me
Help me to understand
Every decision You have for me
Help this reluctant servant
To be weak
So I may be confident in You.
Help this reluctant servant
To be as faithful to You
As You are to me.

I love it! This is very simple, yet very profound. And I think you excell in this slightly formal, but not stiff (sort of New King James?), wording style. Excellent!

I love it too! Very good. It's so fun to live for the Lord. He shows you so many miraculous things as you grow in him. Thanks for the inspiration.

Littleblondegirl, a wonderful prayer! Thank God for young people as you. I, especially like verse 3. Although, I was a seeker of God for many years, I failed to find a true relationship until I was 32. I'm sure God has used my ex-periences for good. Every Christian has an exciting story to be told and I just wish more would take courage and tell what Christ can do. Continue to step out with God's blessings. Grandma Bizzy

Honest, wonderfully expressed words.

'Help this reluctant servant
To be weak
So I may be confident in You.
Help this reluctant servant
To be as faithful to You
As You are to me.'
Indeed, our hope lies in His faithfulness,
for His grace is always sufficient.

May all the mighty purposes and plans,
that He has for you, be fulfilled in your life.
