It Was I

Contributed by wachumiri on Friday, 27th February 2004 @ 02:09:23 AM in AEST
Topic: ChristianPoetry

A drop has fallen
A drop of blood
A crimson stream
And now a flood

Whips lash His back
And slice His skin
Was all of this
For all my sin?

And now through crowds
While they scream out
The cross He drags
"To death!" they shout

Nailed to a tree
Through hands and feet
Now lifted high
That all might see

My sin is what
He hung there for
I wounded Him
His heart I tore

In agony
Right up to death
He cried "Forgive them"
With faltering breath

'Twas I who nailed Him
To that tree
I killed Him there
Yet He died for me

"Amazing love, how can it be,
that Thou my God, shouldst die for me?"

How did He die for us? We're not worthy.

Wow! One of the first poems of yours that I read. The first poem created a brutally honest visual. I loved it. It inspired me to live every single moment for the one who suffered trememdously in order that I might be able to do so. Thanks for the kick in the butt!
