When You First Died

Contributed by RobertWilliamGruhn on Friday, 27th February 2004 @ 01:58:38 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

I crashed upon these useless knees,
My tears fell below and flew yonder.
Pleading not to be alone my only wish,
This brain burned thinking of just one word.

Love, it had cooled my mind and now was quickly gone,
Was it just another match lighting a fire ending in smoke?
I knew then I was only a mirror now not reflecting you.
To feel that way buried me alive and I didn’t even care.

Oh how that loss of joy replaced so swiftly by agony seared me,
I thought how this must be the hell that one is punished with.
Even thought if someone was to kindly kill me I’d find you again.
Looking back now on what a thief that desperation can truly be.

Only a few days later I sat there looking at our wedding pictures,
It was then I remembered all the promises you had made to me.
Thinking until you came along they had only been in my dreams,
About the day I awoke and those long sought after hopes were real.

This brought tears to my eyes. Hit me straight in the heart. It was composed perfectly and I wish no one had to know what you have known. Welcome to YPDC, loved your poem. Kie
