Topic: Grief

You were the one who protected me
the one who cared and loved me
You made me laugh when I was down
you had a cure for every frown
You took me to places of wonder
and to places so simple
When I felt the world was against me
you were there to guide me through

Fear of facing the world alone
without you there to help me through
gave me a feeling of anger towards you
for leaving at a time when I needed you
but I realise now, you never left me
You are here in my heart for eternity
I hold within me the memories
And your words of wisdom still guide me through
Sometimes, I still feel you are here
Smiling and encouraging me in all I do
You were not just my father
but my best friend too
And I know that although I miss you
We will be reunited when my time is due
