You called me the other night
Told me that you were scared
I asked you what you were scared of
You said you were afraid of me
That you didn't like being vulnerable
You didn't like feeling like I could hurt you
I tried my best to reassure you that I'm not like that
Told you that I loved you and always would
I got the feeling you didn't believe me
I didn't know how to make you see I was telling the truth
We hung up shortly after that
You haven't called since
And I can't help but feel in some odd way
That it would be our last phone call
I guess it was just your way of saying good bye.

Ahhh...guessing is the hardest game to play. Been there/done that. Your poems always strike that chord in me. Keep writing. It purges the soul, heals and opens you to love again. I'll be thinking about you.
