such a disappointment
not a trophy that you
could prize and flaunt.
I'm sorry I'm not
What you wanted
What you could be proud of
What you could love to love.
I watched you
bathe in your glory
Hoping someday
I would do the same in my own success.
I'm sorry you had to
Put up with their remarks
And bow your head in shame
As they sneer at us.
I'm sorry that I
never fit in the mould
I'm sorry that I
was such a letdown.
If only you would listen...
