Birthday Blues

Contributed by Unaekseveer1 on Tuesday, 10th September 2002 @ 10:22:25 AM in AEST
Topic: BirthdayPoems

Physically strangled into silence whilst existing as a boy
Thirty-first birth anniversary is tomorrow
Now what was once my only annual day of joy
Will ever more bring only memories of immense sorrow

Upside down, all alone and three weeks late
Into this confusing world first quietly came
Why to pick this particular September date
Selfishness is what’s only found to blame

No fault they said lay at these feet of mine
You haven’t actually done anything wrong
But entering into asking the Gods for a sign
Wishing this single act simply had not been done

A sign was begged for why she had drifted
A reason for being handed this life
Why was it this dearest love no longer wanted
To one day become my beloved darling wife

The answers to these such simple questions
Were all that was honestly meant
Now because of this continuing incomprehension
Great fear the end war could now be imminent!

Right then, come on own up, who gave this a 4?

It's worth a 5 if it's worth a vote, surely? ;-)

With love
Dean :-)

Hey I was only kiddin'!
This is my most read poem yet it's has the fewest comments(except one). I hope I didn't put anyone off by my poor attempt at comedy in the comment?!?
Sorry if I did!

With love
Dean:-)
