Disconnect

Contributed by pasta on Tuesday, 24th February 2004 @ 09:18:58 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

The Disconnect

There is a disconnect inside of you,
It can’t be seen,
Just reflected by the things that you do.

I don’t doubt that you love me
Or how much you cared,
But the things you’ve done
Are foreboding for the love we once shared.

The acts of being with others
While in love with me
Illuminates the dysfunction
That I could never see.

Though it pains me
Every minute we are apart,
Every time I learn of another
It causes the pain of an unending broking heart.

I’m glad that you are seeking help
By seeing a counselor every week
Maybe it will instill the strength
To one who had been so meek

I wish I could forgive and forget
The demons of the past
But it’s the possibility of another disconnect
That keeps me from a love
I thought would last.
