A Poet's Heart

Contributed by twinkletoes on Tuesday, 24th February 2004 @ 07:40:52 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

A poet’s heart is breaking, silent, alone he cries
Not because of what you think, there is nothing in a prize
He stands alone upon the land with windswept biting sand
Tearing at his skin and heart with no one to lend a hand.

He looks around about him for one to say, “You’ll be right”
But he feels the bitter loneliness of a poet that’s a-blight
He falls in awful sorrow from this there is no plus
As he begs to hear the words, “You are one of us.“

Will he come back will he rise above the pain?
Yes he will-but his mentors have made it very plain
That he is not of them-not one amongst them stood
And said “Come on mate, be one with us, we think your poetry is good.”

He knows the easy way to be a poet of renown
To meekly walk where others have-to dig the dug up ground
But that is not his flavour he is a leader not a pupil
He cannot write what others have; he cannot be without a scruple.

Clancy you must wheel them, you must wheel them to the right
Those words echo soundly through the depths of every night
He now knows that poems must follow an un-endless beaten track
He will alone and unassisted from this slap come fighting back!

He writes, oh how he writes with tears splashed across his page
As he asks himself, "Was it them or me that caused this painful rage?"
As poets do he looks within and sees a reason for more fear
For he sees the vision of himself, in front of them next year.

And will he blow a trumpet to their old and weary tune?
Or will he keep on telling of his beloved desert moon?
He knows they don’t want to hear for they are worlds apart
As he vows never to write from his head, but from his poet’s heart.

From what I have read of yours, it appears that anything you write about, you do so with style. You have both heart and head for poetry my friend ..and a poets pen.

A very heartfelt write

Larry
