OUR WALKS

When Shiloh was four and Ethan was two,
and their every experience was very new.
We found a pastime quite dear to me,
and for them too, t'was plain to see.
Out on this trail we'd take a walk;
of pleasant things we'd casually talk.
In peaceful wood we found a thrill,
in exploring every glade and hill.
The forrest is the place to show,
communion with one you'd care to know.
We shared a mutual respect and love,
among the trees and grass and shrub.
The usual distractions we left behind;
those interruptions that cloud the mind.
I felt so close to them out there,
strolling in the cool morning air.
The true beauty of a child will show,
when engrossed in a curious desire to know,
of all the things wild nature brings,
into God's amazing creation scene.
My love for them grew strong out there,
a bond I pray we'll forever share.
I'll treasure in my mind always,
woodland trips on those blessed days.
That contented time and leasurely pace,
will hold in my heart a special place.
As they grow older, I hope they'll see,
a need to continue those walks with me.
When I was younger I never knew,
grandchildren could charm as children do.
When Ethan was two, and Shiloh was four,
our walks in the wood filled me with joy.

The imagery is delightful as is this beautiful poem. There is nothing like teaching a child love of nature, family and God. This is an exceptional piece of work, Lionel. What a lovely way to bond with them.

My grandchildren are my delight.
I keep my four year old grandson, Dylon while his mom works. He-n-I when it's warm, get out and play in the sand. We have fun when we play together.
right now he's at the agae when he ask questions like, who makes the snow, where does babies come from....He's a sweet heart.
Very good writie.
