Hey Dad

Contributed by stalkee on Tuesday, 24th February 2004 @ 01:18:29 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Hey dad,
I'm writing this for you
Not to tell you, I'm angry at you
Or agree when you said you have failed
But rather to tell you,
that I am so sorry
'Cause I'm the true failure here

I never gave heed,
to anything that you said
Or tried to listen,
when you tried to give advice
I just pushed it away,
never listened to what you say

And it seems to me,
I've pushed you and mom away
It's not that I don't love you both
I mean you both are my parents
But I'm just not an open book to read,
I just like to be alone

Now all kinds of emotions,
are running deep inside this young mans heart
Can't tell you what they are,
can't explain what they do
But now I just want to tell you,
that I'm alright, I'm alright

And it's been awhile since I've said this,
and really meant it...
so now I'm saying it with truth
Hey dad,
I love you

Yes, by all means give it to him if you can't stand and say it to him. The main thing is to keep the lines of communication open and understand it is as hard for him to be a parent as it is for you to be a teen. Both sides have pros and cons but the main message to keep out in front for you all to see and live with is the "I love you" part.

I also think you should show your dad this poem...sometimes it's easier said when it's written..that way it'll give you a chance to re-tie the bonds and everything you wish to say WILL be said.I think his heart wuold deeply appreciate this. It's a nice dediction and shows true feelings for whatever your actions were that you regret because it comes completely from your heart.Good luck and nice write,
PumpkinPie

check out one of mine. i think that its called why dont you smile... or just smile. i gave it to my dad, adn he was heartbroken he had no idea. you should give it to your dad, and tell him that you really care, and that you won't give up until you make things right. it helps to talk things out. *tear tear* this poem made me cry! first poem i've ever cried from my heart for. Love your poetry...keep it up!

sincerely
