in his boat of broken hope

Contributed by Cancer on Tuesday, 24th February 2004 @ 12:41:48 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

a walking graveyard
for he held inside
a patchwork tomb
for every little piece of him that died

sailing in a boat
of broken hope
slowly sinking as he went
alone in a sea
of bitter tears
that fell for emotions
that he no longer felt

a sky of dreams
above his head
so far out of his reach
he no longer tried
just looked up and sighed
and pretended
that he was someone else
anyone else

so long he'd sailed
in his leaky boat
yet he'd never be allowed to sink
just float forever
in the tiny world
that he was forced to make

and the pretty stars in the sky
that everyone loves
only make him feel lonely

the winds of hate
the waves of rage
toss his boat
and bring the daze
the world of red
he knows so well
silent screams smear his vision
and everything looks like Hell

he'll never smell the scent of freedom
never feel the caress of love
only float alone
in that broken boat
taunted by the empty dreams above
and he'll never set foot on land again
though he's searched for so many years
just wait for his hope
to finally disappear
then drown in his bitter tears

I love it!! It's sad... Sometimes it's how I feel about myself... Sad... floating alone with only a boat of broken hope!!
Keep up the good work... it's beautifully written.

The meaning of this poem is even deeper than the water described within it. Definitely one of your best, and the most original i've seen all day. Very good work.

Truly,
-V.S.
