THE ZOO

The animals came to see,
strange species at the zoo;
man they called it
with all its varieties,
and as they filed past
row upon row of metal cages,
some were heard with hissing:
mankind looks remarkedly the same,
acts alike.
To think some creatures
among us
believe man should be free.
The sighs, the head shakes,
the disbelief.

Definitely a thought provoking poem. I have often wondered what the animals think of people. I know I sometimes confuse the two when some people act like animals. |
