Shattering glass in the kitchen down below,
screams from her mother
she looked up to.
Bleeding hearts in a timeless battle,
left to feel the pain no one knows.
Alcoholic father smacks the woman,
but the girl just burys her head
down deep in the pillow.
Tears of an angel hold the moment
that play like a film no one sees,
in her innocent memories.
Still the screams echo up from the kitchen,
giving her scars no one can heal.
With her head buried in the pillow
she gently whispers to her stuffed elephant,
and tells him everything will soon be alright.

First I must tell you this is an emotion filled piece of work. Second, I can only pray this is only a poem and not real life for you. The talent here is obvious and I hope your poem is not taken from real events in your own life.
Rainbows,
Rita |
