Water, Water Everywhere....

A drop, a trickle, a puddle, a pond,
Moving steadily into the beyond.
Flowing, splashing, rushing, drowning,
Churning the oceans with rhythms pounding.
Slow running rivers pass on steel,
Making streams of tears so real.
Evaporate, come down again
Raining freely till the end.
Clouds roll by, filled with vapor.
Empty water float on paper.
Soaking everything in its way,
As if it had something it needed to say.
Glimmering clear from a water fountain,
Holding near to a snow-capped mountain.
Everywhere, everything…
Flooding as its silence sings.
Forever stuck in a looming drought.
A single splash from a draining sprout.
So few drops are left to taste.
It makes the ocean seem a salty waste.
Children in raincoats, yellow and bright.
A shiny protection from the cold, wet fright.
Singing in the rain—how happy they felt.
Mothers stand by; afraid they might melt.
H2O holds nothing to fear.
No threat is held in a glass full of tears.
I sense something hiding in the sea,
Dark and deep, yet enough to scare me.
A deeper feeling on a rainy day,
When sorrow soaks the light away.
So much emotion in a wave;
So much yearning in the quench we crave.
Hold a starfish, wish from a star—
Who really sees how far apart they are?
Immerse us entirely, just not too much,
For what will happen if with the surface we lose touch?
A shallow, lovely, glimmering beach…
But who can imagine what lurks beneath?
Down too far and it all fades away,
As shadows of blue swirl into dark gray.
Too far to swim up to the light.
No energy left to continue to fight.
Suffocating in fears that refuse to be known.
As foaming waves crash against bone.
Scary waters frightening in silence.
But even worse in stormy violence.
Thunder crashes on the rocky sea,
Lightening dashes, defying gravity.
Water—there to cool our drink.
Water’s there to make me think.
Something we love, but love to hate
Indulging in bottles, we can’t hesitate,
But at the slight mention of the unclean,
We worry and fret on what can’t be seen.
Walking the surface is meant only for stories,
Those who’ve been given some high glories.
Now water is seen through different eyes,
Skimming the good, the bad, the foolish, the wise.
Swimming in water, but far from not wet,
A permanent dryness I can’t forget.
Cleanse yourself in water so clean,
Reflecting the fake, plastic-like sheen.
Echoing ripples resound on the surface,
But deep in it’s shadows, vocal outcries are worthless.
Under the water, no one can hear,
Under the water, no one goes near.
Sunken ships and buried treasure,
Lost below in depths beyond measure.
Images of the past now rusty and old.
History stuck in waters so cold.
These threatening ripples now make me wonder,
If there’s a warning hidden in thunder.
It’s warnings are calling to us below
Telling us to flee from the water’s blows.
Run away to find a place to hide,
Hurry before the land and rain collide.
Hidden in shelter far from the rain
Avoiding the water and its quest for pain.
Seeping through cracks unseen by all
Levels rise as our boundaries fall.
Keep away before the falling droplets come,
Nothing to hold when it’s water you’re running from.
Escape quickly to a dryer place.
Hold to the hope that memories can be erased.
Stop now to view the silence in awe.
When the sea is calm, you can ignore its flaws.
Ignore the gloom and dark despair
See the mighty ocean and smell the salt-filled air.
View the colors, greens and blues so deep,
And the vibrant hues reflected from the coral reef.
Soak in the water’s glorious rays!
But never forget its unforgiving ways…

This overflows with watery sentiment.
If you think its kinda waterlogged in its length, you could perhaps compartmentalize it. There's enough here to get at least four or even five unique perspectives on the subject.
A very observant and imaginative exposition. |
