Childhood Memories

Dancing in front of my eyes,
the memories, they flow.
They flash and they pause,
the painful ones forever go slow.
I should be past this,
all that you've done to me.
But I'm frozen,
my heart is torn in two.
I'm nearly hopeless,
and there's nothing I can do.
"Dumber than a sack of hammers,"
running in the rain.
"Just pull those arms in a little more,"
epitome of my pain.
I can't erase those memories,
each time they float past my eyes.
I can't distinguish the difference,
between the truth and all your lies.
I was just a child!
Now look what you've done to me.
I can't get past your words, your actions,
can't you see what you've done to me?
"Shoot your own kittens,"
hear the screams every day inside my head;
relive each memory of every moment,
and fancy being dead.
It's opened like a can of worms,
why couldn't it stay buried deep?
Why must it haunt everything,
and ruin my once peaceful sleep?
See them hitting each other,
pound upon unmerciful pound.
Screaming to their deaf ears,
helplessly I turn up the sound.
