The Luck of the Draw

Contributed by norm on Wednesday, 18th February 2004 @ 01:42:33 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

There's someone coming down the stair,
I look to see; there's no one there,
I feel a breeze go by my cheek
Which leaves me trembling, pale and weak.

The door opens up and not a sound,
And on the floor, a reeking mound,
I fear this moment, doom has come,
And in my mind life's total sum.

Did you ever feel an evil force,
You've lived your life without remorse,
But now it caught you unaware,
You're cold and hot with straight up hair.

You think of things that you have done,
Things less than godly, just for fun,
Those you hurt with cards and gin
You never paid the price for sin,

The time has come, the bill be paid,
There's no way out, you can't evade,
The angel who takes care of death,
Is hovering over my last breath.

They talk about the river Styx,
And in your mind there springs these pics,
A stream as wide as any moat,
A less than stable dirty boat.

The angel passed, no longer there,
I'm still with you but what a scare,
My time to come, was not to be,
I have more time to be with thee
