IRAQ: A FESTERING SORE FOR DECADES TO COME

Contributed by Steeleyes on Wednesday, 18th February 2004 @ 07:49:15 AM in AEST
Topic: political

A new sore in our side
A festering sore no one can hide
For decades to come the fight will go on
The fight for Iraq till all hope is gone

The conditions are there
For chaos to grow
Instability will reign
And time will show

This fractured land
Is just at the start
Of a horror unending
We see only part

This whole region has been undermined
By a U.S. action so stupid, so blind
10,000 innocents so far have died
Because of politicians who simply lied

If only it was over with those dead
But this will go on for years instead
Bombings and terror, chaos and fear
And not only Iraqis will shed a tear

The hatred and anger and the violence there
Will travel to lands who ought to beware
The fracture runs deep, it will not be healed
By puppet governments who cannot shield

The people from the chaos that will ensue
From what Bush did with his callous crew
The death and destruction will be without end
No matter how many troops we send

The path is set and the die now cast
Chaos will stream and stream from Iraq
Butcher Bush may go and good riddance
But it leaves only time to the NEXT attack

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
