In My Arms...

Grief

Your life was short,
but touched us all.
Our hearts were one,
when this world you saw.
Out of the womb,
and into the day,
never knowing,
it would end that way.
Mother held you.
Daddy cried.
And as I held you,
you wilted and died.
No tears were falling.
You were in no pain,
as your soul floated,
past the window pane.
I pictured you there,
asking me for advice.
I was the big brother,
protecting your life.
Wrapped in the blanket,
your shield from the cold.
A premature baby,
only seven hours old.
I looked down into,
your tiny baby face,
wishing the circumstances,
could be erased.
But timing was inevitable.
Heaven sounded the alarms.
The angel played her harp,
As you died in my arms.
