i'm sure you have pavements pouring out of your side
(well could one of those lead here in your mind set)
calling for someone else to be the caller this time
(i've retired and moved way out of the phone line)
sometimes i'm just better left out as uninvovled
(there's not a thing for you now that i can solve)
and then you call... as if it's a better time
well i can't go back this time
no there's too much i've changed my mind upon
i know you'll get through this one
that isn't really left to question
you'll take this down from side to side...
while where whatever should you know
just move on your own suggestion
and hit the town and take it in stride...
but i can't go back this time

and then you call... as if it's a better time
i tried i can't remember what
went through my complex rejection
i'll move away from my glaring pride...
i'm tense with sleepless cuts
strung up left with no attention
but i'll still be here no i can't hide...
no i can't go back this time
the more i go the more i change behind
for what it doesn't matter...
because i'm headed backwards
backed up without any words
forget you heard it...
couldn't hurt to forget it
now i'm left to regret this
well i can't go back this time
that doesn't mean i can't change my mind
and then you call... such a better time
