I’ve been to so many places
All the blurred faces
Haunting my every thought
I’ve walked at all my own paces
While the real world erases
The memory that I fought
And it’s a mad, mad world
For some young girl
Like me
Who doesn’t know where to go
And it’s a sad, sad world
For even a strong girl
Like me
Who doesn’t know who she’s to be
I’ve walked along so many highways
Lost count after three days
Of all the times I knew
And that thought, always replays
To the scene of pain that lays
Across and over you
And it’s a mad, mad world
For some young girl
Like me
Who doesn’t know where to go
And it’s a sad, sad world
For even a strong girl
Like me
Who doesn’t know who she’s to be
To me, it’s quite funny
To the world, it’s pretty sad
The dreams in which I’m flying
Are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
But it isn’t hard to take
When I see them walking in circles
I think it’s a mad, mad world
Child waiting for the best day
Not her birthday, not that it could
She wants the day that makes her feel
Like every child should
I sit and listen, every day
Go to school, pretend to smile
They don’t know me; no one knew me
Good morning, teacher
Please see right through me
Please don’t see me
Please don’t see me
And it’s a mad, mad world
For some young girl
Like me
Who doesn’t know where to go
And it’s a sad, sad world
For even a strong girl
Like me
Who doesn’t know who she’s to be
To me, it’s quite funny
To the world, it’s pretty sad
The dreams in which I’m flying
Are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
But it isn’t hard to take
When I see them walking in circles
I think it’s a mad, mad world
