Resisting Change

There lies an enemy within my soul
Making me believe I have no purpose
Bringing to light fears I’ve held inside
Of becoming everything I never wanted to become…

I’ve grown to be
A creature of habit
Resisting change
For starting over would be to hard…

I know that denying change
Brings forth my misery
I wish to rest awhile
For my soil ~ my life ~ becomes depleted

I ask of you as a friend
To bring to me your water
Shed by the innocence of your tears
I need to be nurtured with you

Take me now to those places I have never been
Let me discover you
Could I enter the haven of your soul?
To bathe in its pleasures there evermore

I fear disappointment is inevitable
Life was not given to live up to my expectations
Please don’t leave me in this darkness of unforgivenness
For its power only shadows my life

Did I somehow fall short of your glory?
Am I damned to live on in the midst of my failures?
When I fall
Will I arise?
Will I remain in darkness?
Or will you be my light
Ease my burden
My pain

Please come and find me again
