Wasps and Bees, Bees and Wasps

Contributed by Wesley_Dale_Willis on Sunday, 15th February 2004 @ 10:42:19 AM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

Those Wasps and Bees will dive and sting,
In spring and summer--when they're born--
With speed and fury, wing to wing.

When species anger, tails will sling,
And pierce the flesh and nerves, in turn,
Those Bees and Wasps will dive and sting.

It's throne of flowers buzz and sing,
And rose of red unsheathes a thorn,
With speed and fury, wing to wing.

Attacking postures, warriors spring,
From molting larvae still unborn,
Those Wasps and Bees will dive and sting.

Its where the pollen powders cling--
The tail is evil with it's thorn,
With speed and fury, wing to wing.

Their burning needles make you sing;
With pain you cry, and pain you mourn,
Those Bees and Wasps will dive and sting,
With speed and fury, wing to wing.

Very creative I enjoyed this thoroughly it is hard pressed these days to find someone who knows the technical side of poetry to be able to write in more archaic forms, certainly a testament to your talent-
PoeticRequiem
(The Wordsmith)

I like this poem. Living out in the country as I do I fight these insects every year. I know bees are necessary to nature, but have yet to find a reason to like wasps. LOL . This is a very nice write.

Vicious stuff! Regret I do not command the technical education to fully appreciate the skill in construction you have demonstrated.

Contrast my effort with "The Bumble Bee"

What a pleasant contrast to some of the lurid prose that passes for poetry these days. Still it takes all kinds.............
