I can see you playing baseball in Heaven

Contributed by outdoorsman on Sunday, 15th February 2004 @ 07:20:40 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

thank you for your many gifts of knowledge
such a beautiful mind
I've been looking for you since you left
I've checked our favorite places so many times
but nothing
I listen to our songs and I sware that I hear you singing next to me
I see your face when I look at your brother
I see you in your friends
your sunlight still seems to shine through this darkness
tragic and yet so beautiful was your leaving
no more pain, no more hurt
my sweet friend
my loyal prince
when you said you would take a bullet for me, is this what you were talikng about?
all the questions are answered by your words that I'll never forget
thank you for them because they are the only comfort that I have
you remember how you said that if you went before me you would want to ask if you could bring a friend?
Well don't worry about that now
even though you're not here, you aren't even close to being gone,
and the part of me that is missing was last seen leaving town with you

I can see you playing baseball in heaven
and we are both smiling

Well actually this is not the "outdoorsman" we were still logged in to your site and we found this poem. We know it looks like you are leaving yourself a comment, but we just wanted to leave you a one anyway.

Thanks for being who you are, you were such a strength to us through the death of our brother. We are sitting in John's bedroom as we read this, thinking about you and all your words of comfort... now those words, so beautifully written and dancing into our spirits... can go out into the world and give comfort to all of those who, like us, take the time to read your poetry.

You are a good friend.

Be at peace,
James & Kara
