My Young Friend
Maddy C
13-02-2004
Waiting for dad to come home you use to ring your bell, then when he passed away into eternal sadness you fell.
Not fair for you this little boy, no longer you played with your favourite toy. We all chipped in for your first birthday and bought you your own clown. Charlie was the name you had given, and all the smiles he did bring. After daddy moved on, all he could bring was a frown.
I remember the words to your song, as we talked on the phone. "Daddy your gone, i miss you, and you yummy a hugs. One day i will see you more and again my sky will be blue"
Your mum could not stay any longer, and could not bare to be alone. We tried all we could to get her to be here, we always had that fear. Then when we thought she was ok and her strength seamed to show through. She decided to go and be with your dad, and with him look down upon you.
My young friend, please ring your bell, not for
sadness, but for togetherness, as you join your dad and mum in happiness. Together again you are, better off we know by far. Charlie will be with you and in his hand his own bell too.
I remember your big brown eyes and the toothey little grin, and know how much joy to your daddy you did bring. I know that smile has returned and sits there proud as you can laugh witn your dad aloud.
My young friend yes we are sad, and all the calls i will miss. As you go and be together please take with you this... "Maddy our young friend, Steff, Nanna, Brian and Craig, Tommy, Michelle, Stu and I, we are pained for losing you, but our pain is overcome by the happiness we know as you rejoin your dad and mum..." As it will be said...
I never wanted to be given a bell, but it will be cherished and sit high with your poppies beret.
