Silence is the sweetest agony

Contributed by EternitysLyre on Sunday, 15th February 2004 @ 04:49:08 AM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

Sometimes best remembrances are things of farthest past,
For when the sun glares in your eyes you wish that it shall pass
’Tis only in the calm of dusk, you realize it’s gone
And only in the cold of eve, for that one thing you long.

Such are life's most precious
The shortest are the most delicious
And those you lose are those of greatest worth

Many time's the sorrow
As night gives 'till tomorrow
You wish that somehow you had saved the hurt

I shall not wonder anymore, my answer starkly clear
This friendship may abuptly end,
Yet I shan't shed a tear

For this was the cost
Of undoing the spell
I bid you bright futures...

For this is farewell.

Sincerely,
Jonathan D. Jou

Wow. I can't say how much I can relate to this poem. It's amazing, and yet so sadly beautiful. Wow.

Been there, done that. And you've described it perfectly. I also liked the title, it's very fitting. Excellently done.

This certainly dredges up some memories of my own. I have tried on several occasions to capture this in a poem, but none even hold a candle to this marvel. Inconceivable talent, and a somber touch. Mind blowing.

Truly,
-V.S.
