Are We Dead Yet?

Contributed by poetic_oddity on Saturday, 7th September 2002 @ 01:36:43 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

I’ve got a question, answer please.
It just might put my mind at ease.
With all the chaos buzzing ‘round.
Since tranquility can’t be found.
Since this is the last chance I’ll get?
Answer me, “Are we dead yet?”
You look around, there’s so much pain.
Just what is it we have to gain?
You’ve derailed the thought train.
And now that you’re going insane.
Since this is the last chance I’ll get?
Tell me please, “Are we dead yet?”
What is it with this crazy world?
Why is it that we are hurled?
Into this international asylum.
Where it’s “Kill ‘em all and let god sort ‘em.”
Since this is the last chance I’ll get,
I entreat, “Are we dead yet?”
Although solitude does comfort.
Why is that we contort?
Why do we try to fit the mold?
Why do we do what we are told?
Since this is the last chance I’ll get,
I ask of you, “Are we dead yet?”
Trying to win a loosing fight.
Trying to beat the next third Reich.
Trying to get what I adore.
There’s one last thing I must implore.
Since this is the last chance I’ll get,
I want to know, “Are we dead yet?”

A good poem, but try to be a little bit positive in the authors note. Maybe you'll have more responses.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
