Life won’t be easy
It won’t always be fun
It won’t always go your way
It may make you run
Life will make you scared
Of what is to come
If only I knew that
When I was young
I would have known
That life can be cruel
My experiences have shown
That it’ll make you into a fool
When life catches up to you
It smacks you in the face
It gives you a giant wake-up call
And teaches you to run
But if you start early
You can stay ahead of life
You can ride life’s bumper
Or you can drag it along behind you
I caught up with it many times
Time and time again
Only to skid and go off-track
And life would never look back
It would keep on going
With a smirk on its face
Knowing that in the end
It would win the race
The lesson here
Is short and sweet
Never give up, never stop trying
With life you always must compete
