THE SEA

Contributed by arakrune on Friday, 6th September 2002 @ 01:14:03 PM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

Give me your torches
Stand and watch from your porches

I’m going to set this reality afire
In an attempt to escape this muddy quagmire

I can’t seem to move my feet
When do the jesters bring a treat?

I see a demented view of those around me
I need to spend some time in the glorious sea

The sea, my rejuvenator and lover
The sea, my teacher and mother

The respect I have for her I cannot measure
The many times she has given both pain and pleasure

The lessons taught through rewards and discipline
The fear brought on by that ever so ominous fin

I’ve lost my way and can’t seem to find to return
To my home for which my soul burns

She calls me upon winds so sweet
Teasing me with visions so complete

Thundering whitewater and power unchecked
Moments fleeting and man made structures wreaked

The quietness of windless and wave less days
Reflections upon mother earth’s temperamental ways

The long rides on dark moonless nights
The majestic views and countless beautiful sights

Gliding upon the glass of a perfect morning
The huge deep and dangerous barrels that send adrenalin soaring

The sea my teacher
The sea my mother
The sea my lover
The sea my rejuvenator

Of me the sea also has a strong hold. It always seems to inspire. Well done, although it seems to me that you've 'conformed' a bit to rhyme. Don't get me wrong, I mostly write in rhyme, but recently I've been writing different styles. Anyhow, well done. May the sea send you many more words.
Take care.
David
