HE DID NOT SERVE

He did not serve
but chose to swerve
and now ignores
those who fought
in a war few chose
coming back limbs lost
or not at all
and thousands more
than officially said
sometimes surviving
feeling near dead
to those in the Pentagon
to those who sent them
to the politician who stayed
safe at home
who chose to swerve
and not to serve

These stories are nothing more than what myself and other soldiers in my company have been saying about Bush LONG before he invaded Iraq. He was a wimpy draft dodger who joined the guard to get out of going over to 'Nam.
Nowadays, being in the Guard isn't a safe haven from the war anymore. I've served with hundreds of deployed Guardsmen, and did so proudly. Much to my suprise they do a very good job as combat arms soldiers. I won't go into too much detail as to how I know this, but believe me, they do alright for themselves.:) |
