The back screen door slams, as Johnny
runs throughout his home,
yelling, "Mom, I'm getting married!"
From the basement, his mother
hears his screams accede.....
Johnny's mom is never shocked by what
he may say!
An imagination like a soaring air balloon,
that was normal for Johnny every day!
A former teacher, she enjoys his
wonderful gift.
She asks him many questions,
enjoying the air- lift!
"Mary and I are going to get married Mom?"
he once again would yell!
Dropping the info at his mother's feet
like a huge bombshell!
"But, Johnny," she says, "Where will you live?"
That's a big responsibility, and what
is your motive?
"We can live in Mary's playhouse in
her back yard.
It's a nice little house Mom,
It won't be too hard!"
"But Johnny when you have a wife to support,
and feed, how will you buy groceries?"
"That's easy too Mom, we have it all figured
out we'll just eat your food
when we are in need!"
"It soon will be winter, Johnny, and you know
how cold it gets here,
You can't live in the playhouse without
any heat, it's just too severe!"
"We thought about that one too,
When it gets too cold, we'll just come
in the basement and live with you!"
Little Johnny seemed to have an answer
for every question she asked.
She had to ask the last one, she
hoped she'd be up to the task!
"Now, Johnny," she related, "When people
get married, they love each other a lot!"
And pretty soon, they have babies,
is that one thought you forgot?"
"Gees, Mom," we know what we're doing,"
he said, without even flinching!
"Me and Mary have decided that
if she lays any eggs.........
We're going to step on 'em!"

it was that easy?"

How absolutely wonderful! Sounds like something one of twins would do. Children just have all the answers. Yes, if life could only be that easy. LOL. I adore this piece. Rita |
