Darkness

Topic: DarkPoetry

The heart that beats
The sun that sets

The moon that rises

The mind that thinks

The love that remains cold

Cold within the dark, smoldering ashes

The light that gives no view

The dark that gives no shade....

Isn't it strange to think

That we were once friend

That we were holding hands

Walking side by side into the future

Without a care?

If only we knew what was going to happen

Would things still be the same

Or would they have ended differently?

There is only one way to tell

And that is for fate to decide

The earth that no longer turns

The time that does not exist

The love that remains stale....

Didn't you know

That the love we once had burned out

Smothered within the smoldering ashes a long time ago?

Deep down inside I know this is how I feel

I know this is how I see the world

And I cannot help that.

No one can help me.

For I am deep into the darkness

That gives no shade.

The oceans that stops in time

The cries that remain silent

The tears that have not yet left the eye

Can you hear the pain?

Can you sense the fear?

The cold hatred....

The shame...?

As time goes by we shall remember

Nothing other that mere images of the past.

Wouldn’t it be fastidious

If we could just have one moment

Where we could be together and I would not have to feel

So alone in the darkness.

The dark that gives no shade

The light that gives no sight

The colors that stay pale

The eyes that cannot see

The pain that this world truly endures

Do you sometimes feel

The water that drops upon your head?

Feel the cold snow on your bare feet for the first time?

Isn’t it bliss

To think that you could taste the air

Of the sweet tropics without being in your presence?

I am not there, I shall be gone soon.

I will be no longer a part of your traditions

For I am my own person

And no one else

I go my own way

And you go yours

Our paths shall never meet nor cross again

As you were so hoping to do.

Still, there is no way that I can walk away

No where to turn

I am alone now,

Without a shoulder to lean on

And the only place for me to trust is the darkness....
