Twilight's Dawn, and the In-Between

Contributed by TheSchroedmeister on Sunday, 8th February 2004 @ 09:10:34 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

i told a man
once that i
had never learned to cry

He told me that I would

i told him the
world was mine to hold

He told me that would change

i told him i would never die,
i'd stand not sit i'd
run not walk i'd
sing not speak i'd
sing not speak i'd...

He stopped me,
And told me to sit
And listen

He said that happiness
Is a river

He told me that tears
Would come, but go

He told me the world
Was too big for me
To own

He told me to stop and
Enjoy my gifts,
Like life, and love, and
A mind, and time

He said he was a
Sprinter too,
But now walking
Suited him fine

He told me too that
Time was hope, that
Hope was joy, that
Joy was peace

he died on the
banks of the amazon,
in song

Well, for being only the 20th person to read this in the space of a month is a shame for you, but a privelige for me.
Your broken rhyme (or pauses) are excellently interspersed to allow your concepts to be absorbed and understood in this one. Originality abound in a strangely ethereal kind of sagely poetry.
I really enjoyed reading it

It ends? I want more... This was far beyond that of anything (and I'm going to stand behind this comment) any mortal could write. You're style (I know I say it over and over, but it's sooooo exceptional) adds so much emotion and realism to the piece. You are a poet if I ever saw one. With your ability and the mind that you have, I couldn't imagine spending a day in your presence. You seem to be so much more in depth with everything, life love nature death etc, then any other single person I have ever come across. Something written in this magnitude should be in every book, on every wall, in every house. This is what I strive to write everyday. You take my breath away with everything you write. It's great. Thank you so much. The priveledge of reading your writing is cause enough for me to put down my pen and sit back and watch how it's really done.
